As per Hindu calendar’s Bhadrapada month's fortnight is celebrated as the birthday of Lord Ganesha, the God of wisdom. This date is also famous as Vinayak Chaturthi. In folk traditions, the birth of Lord Ganesha is celebrated for ten days.
 
This year, the Chaturthi is beginning on August 29 and will go up to September 7, i.e Anant Chaturdashi.

Ram Gopal Varma Sparks Controversy With His Insensitive Tweet On Ganesh Chaturthi

Bollywood filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has sparked another controversy with his atheist tweet on the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi.

RGV tweeted,  “The guy who couldn't save his own head from being cut , how he will save others heads is my question? But Happy Ganpathi day to morons!”

His tweet has initiated a barrage of reactions on the social media, condemning his insensitive remark on the micro blogging site.
